VIBRATIONS NEW AGE JAZZ CD VIBRATIONS: Jazz Piano with Bass and Guitar is a CD of original modal and jazz standards from composer Marilynn Seits on piano accompanied by bassist Sean McAusand and by guitarist Andy McAusland. Also heard on the title track VIBRATIONS is Robert Jackson playing Shakuhachi flute and Sean playing a Burmese temple gong. The music on VIBRATIONS
could be described as Easy Listening Jazz or New Age Jazz, perfect for
relaxation, spas or salons. This is an acoustic album recorded on a
Bosendorfer piano which brings out the lush textures and richness of
Marilynn's chord voicings. There is an Eastern influence on the tracks
of original music and traces of Keith Jarrett and Bill Evans can
be heard in Marilynn's piano playing on the jazz standards.

SPIRIT OF CHANGE MAGAZINE “...Vibrations rounds things out with a pastiche of styles and moods
ranging from jazz classics ("Blue Monk") to New Age ("Vibrations") to
light pop ("Popcorn"). An obvious highlight is the 9-minute "Plateau"
which achieves a genuine degree of tension with its adventurous upbeat
improvisations...”

HERE'S WHAT PEOPLE ARE SAYING ABOUT VIBRATIONS
CD Review, Better Directions for New Living
Recline in a comfortable sofa with a glass of
sherry or your favorite herbal tea and prepare to be enchanted.
Marilynn Seits' CD "Vibrations" will engage you in a listening
experience reminiscent of the original jazz heard at the Village
Vanguard, in New York City's Greenwich Village. No stale-factory jazz
here. Most of the pieces were recorded live.
The first piece titled Vibrations, features Shakuhachi flute, piano,
bass and a Burmese Temple Gong. It has movement, dimension and an
eastern modal influence. All the selections flow together and balance
one another. There are some tunes by Miles Davis, Thelonius Monk, Ned
Washington and Victor Young, and one feels the presence of The Bill
Evans Trio, also. You may find yourself playing it over and over again
to catch some of the jazzy nuances.

exploring the emotional, as well as melodic and harmonic, content of
composition..." - Bob Weinberg, CITY LINK. - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -

Other Notes:
"...taking a much more daring
approach to the music is pianist Marilynn Seits who combines her
classically oriented style with the tones of Native American flute and
Burmese percussion to achieve an intriguing sound mix on a new CD VIBRATIONS.
The recording reflects several different aspects of her musical
concepts.
When not exploring the deeper side of her writing skills, she
interjects a couple of pieces that obviously display her lighter side
and show elements of ragtime in their happy framework. Stating that she
was influenced by Thelonius Monk, Miles Davis and Bill Evans, she also
included three jazz classics in the middle of the album that she
performs in duet with son Andrew. His guitar improvising around her
piano strains give them a different coloring. Seits shows creativity in
her soloing to avoid the cliches associated with these well-travelled
tunes.
However, the most challenging
aspects of the recording are the compelling tunes written by Marilynn
that project the Eastern and Indian cultures. This music takes up over
half the set and gives Seits' playing its unique quality. While the set
shows her to be a diverse musician, she is at her best when delving
into the dark reaches of these more exotic compositions. They alone
make the album a worthwhile listening experience..." Frank Rubolino, CADENCE MAGAZINE
